How Do I Set Up Pet Care with Happy Paws & Pet Pals LLC?

Before any pet sitting or dog walking visits are made, you will need to be set up as a client. Please contact Happy Paws & Pet Pals LLC to discuss your pet sitting/dog walking needs and schedule an initial Meet & Greet consultation with the owner/operator, Vicky Blackwell, your professional pet sitter/dog walker. Once the meeting date is scheduled, an email confirmation will be sent including a link to the company website where you can download and print the Service Agreement and information forms which are to be filled out prior to the Meet & Greet.

During the meeting, Vicky will interact with your pets and go over their routine, review the Service Agreement and information forms, book your services, obtain a key to your home (see How do you access my home below for more details), and collect payment (see What is your payment policy below for more details). The Meet & Greet typically takes about 45 minutes to an hour.  

What areas do you service?
The following areas in North Carolina: Indian Trail (28079), Stallings and parts of Weddington and Wesley Chapel (28104), parts of Monroe (28110), and parts of Matthews (28104, 28105). If you do not see your specific area but are in close proximity to any areas listed, please contact the company to find out if services can be offered.

Do you come to my home to watch my pets?
Yes, visits are provided to your pets in their home where they are comfortable and can maintain their normal routine.

How often do you visit my pets?
Vicky can create a schedule that works best for you and your pets. For daily dog walking/potty breaks, clients choose to have 1 or more visits a week. For clients who are on vacation or out of town for a day or more, multiple visits per day are offered (typically 3 visits per day for dogs and 1 visit per day for cats). Visits are offered 7 days a week from 7am to 9pm. Boarding is not offered at this time.

How do you access my home?


Vicky prefers to retain a copy of the key to your home which ensures that you are able to make reservations whenever you require her services. And if you have an unexpected or emergency need, all you have to do is contact her. All keys are kept in a lockbox when they are not in use. For your security, keys will only be identified by the name(s) of your pet(s), never your name or address. A copy of your key will be picked up at the initial Meet & Greet. If a key is not available at the Meet & Greet or if Client does not wish a key to be retained, a $10 fee may be assessed for each pick up/drop off. When requesting key return, keys must be returned directly to client in person or via registered mail.

Please be mindful to provide any codes or keys that may be needed to have to access or operate in your home including key less entry, garage keypad, storm doors, door to house from garage, back door, etc.

Do you provide daily updates?
Yes, you will receive a daily text update.

Do you offer referral fees?
Yes. Referral fees are offered to existing clients. When you refer a new client and they book and complete their first visit, you will receive $10.00 off your next scheduled visit.

How do I schedule visits?

  • For existing clients: Call 704-491-7964 or send an email to happypawsnc@yahoo.com
  • For new clients:  Please give as much advance notice as possible as a time must be scheduled for a meet and greet prior to you being able to reserve any visits-No Exceptions. (See How Do I Set Up Pet Care above).
  • All scheduling is based on first come first serve basis. Please request service as soon as possible to make sure a spot can be reserved.
  • Visits can be scheduled as needed or on a regular recurring basis 7 days a week and on holidays.

What is your payment policy?
Cash, check, credit card, bank draft


New Clients and/or Existing Clients Requesting Vacation/Out of Town Visits For new clients, payment is due at the time of reservation (usually at the Meet & Greet). For existing clients, payment is due on or before first scheduled visit. (Exception is for Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter holiday visits, payment is due from new and/or existing clients at time of reservation subject to cancellation/schedule change policy below.) 

Established Clients Requiring Daily Dog Walking Visits – Payment due on the last visit of each week.  

All checks are to be made payable to Happy Paws & Pet Pals LLC. 

What happens if I have to cancel or make a schedule change?

  • Please contact Vicky as soon as possible of any cancellations or schedule changes. In the event of last-minute cancellations, Happy Paws & Pet Pals LLC reserves the right to charge a fee equal to the value of the service or apply fees paid as credit toward future pet visits (excluding the holidays listed below).
  • Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day – These are some of the busiest pet sitting days. There are NO refunds for holiday reservations; however, a credit will be given if cancellation is made 7 days prior to the first scheduled visit of the reservation. This policy applies to the full term reserved not just the actual day of the holiday.
  • No refunds or credits are given for early return from vacation/holiday.

Do you provide visits on holidays?

  • Yes. Visits are offered on New Year’s Day; Easter; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Thanksgiving Eve; Thanksgiving Day; Christmas Eve; Christmas Day; and New Year’s Eve. There is a small $5 increase added to the regular rate for each visit on these holidays.

Do you require proof of current vaccinations?
Yes, please provide proof of current rabies vaccinations at the time of initial Meet & Greet.

What happens if my pet is ill or has an emergency and is in need of a vet?
At the Meet and Greet Vicky will ask for your veterinarian information and complete a form giving permission to take your pet to your veterinarian for treatment. In an emergency situation, your pet will be taken to your veterinarian immediately. In a non-emergency situation, you will be called first. If your veterinarian is closed, your pet will be transported to a 24-hour emergency animal hospital. Please provide your veterinarian with the Veterinarian Release Form prior to your travels. 

What is your inclement/severe weather policy?

  • Vicky will always use her best judgment while caring for your pet(s) at the time of inclement/severe weather (primarily severe storms, torrential downpours, hurricanes, ice/snow). Your instructions will be carried out to the best of her ability. The care provided to your pet and its safety is the first concern. During inclement weather the following will occur:
  • Every effort will be made to drive to your home; however, the visit schedule may be changed, interrupted, or altered due to circumstances
  • If it is not possible to drive safely to your home, your emergency contact (if applicable) will be notified
  • You will be notified

Do you administer medication?

At your request, veterinarian prescribed medications will be administered at no additional charge. Please have all medications and instructions available during the initial Meet & Greet.

What is your dog walking policy?

  • During periods of torrential downpours, thunder/lightening, or extreme hot or cold temperatures, I will use my best judgement and may limit walks to short potty breaks, indoor and/or yard playing and exercise.
  • Walks after 8pm or when it gets dark (whichever comes first) may be limited to a short distance and indoor and/or yard play for safety reasons.
  • Dogs are required to be on a leash and have collar with identification tags on during outdoor walks.
  • Walks limited to two dogs at a time and must be from same household.
